Our Story

In 1977, four local mothers in Santa Barbara saw a need that wasn't being met: new parents needed a supportive, non-judgmental space to learn and connect. With a $500 grant from AAUW (American Association of University Women), they founded Postpartum Education for Parents — PEP.

What began as a small, grassroots effort has grown into a cornerstone of family support in our community. PEP's core belief remains unchanged: there is no one right way to parent. We meet every family where they are, offering education, encouragement, and genuine community.

Today, PEP is powered by a dedicated team of trained parent volunteers who have walked the same path. Most of our services are offered free of charge and are recommended by local professional organizations across Santa Barbara County.
